Bread and butter for Toyota
February 1st 2005

M&W Toyota Handling has supplied gas forklifts with 1.8 tonne lifting capacity and a powered pallet truck to major UK sandwich supplier, The Sandwich Factory Ltd (TSFL).

TSFL’s 35,000 ft2 site produces over 650,000 sandwiches per week and is experiencing sustained growth – leading the company to review its materials handling equipment. According to TSFL goods-in manager Andrew Dodd, reliability, safety and durability were key criterium.

M&W Toyota undertook a health and safety survey of TSFL’s legacy equipment and found it unable to support the company’s increasing levels of production. Toyota then demonstrated its range and the benefits of its System of Active Stability (SAS).

According to M&W’s Andy Price: “One example is a feature that temporarily locks the swinging motion of the rear axle which helps prevent the vehicle from tipping over when manoeuvering around corners, reducing the stress of operating an unstable forklift and allowing the operator to concentrate on the job.”
