The driver who forgot to check the weight!
August 1st 2004

According to Marsden Weighing Group, throughout Europe stationary floor scales are being replaced with mobile weighing systems installed directly on to the lifting units. This saves time both in double handling and internal/logistic transport, since the weighing is done while transporting the load.

The most popular weighing system for forklift trucks in Scandinavia, the TC2000, has a typical weighing accuracy of 0.25% of the capacity of the lifting unit. This high degree of accuracy is achieved by measuring the pressure of the hydraulics. The measuring technique is based on dynamic weighing, which takes into account the friction of the moving parts of the lifting unit. Many other hydraulic weighing systems available only offer an accuracy of around one to two percent of capacity.

The weighing system can be applied to all machines using hydraulic lifting, such as forklift trucks, stackers, wheel loaders, loader tractors and tailboards on trucks.

Available in the UK through Marsden, the TC2000 cannot be overloaded. There are no sensitive load cells in the forks which need to be treated with care. Furthermore, all sensitive cabling to forks, masts or lifting arms is avoided.

A new development with the TC2000 is that it is now possible to wireless data transfer by Bluetooth technology to a PC, mobile phone or handheld PDA.
