Flexible load handling

Pentalver Transport, based in the Port of Southampton, has acquired a new Hyster H18.00XM, 18,000kg capacity counterbalance truck from Barloworld Handling. "This new truck has given us greater flexibility with our load handling as we are required to handle a diverse range of products in the loading area," comments Dan Withers, cargo handling manager.

The new H18.00XM is used in a dedicated loading area that covers seven acres and includes a 350m2 warehouse that enables cargo, sensitive to the elements, to be stored safely. It is here that a wide variety of goods are packed into containers including machinery, steel, boats, cases, cars, cable drums, excavators and trucks. The H18.00XM is able to lift most of the loads that come through the area and has the advantage of being highly manoeuvrable, as space can be an issue at busy times. For loads that need a top lift a reach stacker is used.
