The potential safety risks and maintenance of forklifts are often overlooked - despite workplace transport being the second biggest cause of fatal occupational accidents.

Scafftag's Forkliftag instantly visually identifies the status of a forklift truck and instills a pre-shift operator inspection. The Black Book outlines legal requirements and provides a system for conducting inspections and recording information. Together they provide a complete solution for managing forklift inspections.

One advocate of the system is healthcare giant, Smith and Nephew, which uses Forkliftag at its plant in Hull, East Yorkshire.

"We started using Forkliftag in 2002, and have identified vast improvements in our health and safety procedures since then," explains Dave Carrick, health and safety and transport coordinator at Smith and Nephew.

"By ensuring operators are aware of checking the truck before use, this system makes them more aware of their load, plus the hazards around them," he says.
