STILL wins with safety solutions
April 1st 2006 STILL forklift distributor, Langley Mechanical Services, has won the prestigious Business Post Supplier of the Year Award 2005, for safety solutions it implemented at UK Pallets' central sorting hub, Fradley Park, Litchfield.
Paul Sanders, MD of UK Pallets, said: "We put Langley forward as the Business Post Supplier of the Year due to the exceptional service and attention to detail they continue to give us. Not only did they put forward the best solution to our safety issues, but the STILL forklift trucks have been very reliable and the drivers thoroughly enjoy using them."
Handling more than 2000 pallets per hour during each night shift, UK Pallets not only needed a fast and reliable fleet of forklifts, but increased hub safety and efficiency as well.
Working together, the two companies came up with a solution that uses a pedestrian walkway around the outskirts of the hub eliminating the hazards of with forklift trucks working in pedestrian areas.
The fleet consists of 22 R 70 25 diesel counterbalance trucks. To give managers and supervisors access, four have been adapted to provide 'Hub Compliance Units'.
