Reaching out to retail June 1st 2009 As the lift height required in the average
warehouse goes up, Phil Ireland, Product
Engineer Director for Linde Material
Handling, says reach trucks, rather than
VNA units, remain the people's favourite due
to relatively low capital cost and flexibility in
retail distribution environments.
Alongside suitability for intensive
applications, a mast with good forward
and torsional stiffness and responsive,
accurate controls, he says high visibility is
key.
IBL Cold Stores, a specialist in
temperature controlled warehousing,
currently uses nine Linde trucks including
the R 16 N reach truck. The reach trucks
are predominantly used to store and
retrieve goods from the warehouse racking
and can be operating in temperatures that
range anywhere from -18°C to +10°C.
"In such a physically demanding
environment and equally demanding
business, reliability and service levels are of
paramount importance," says Ian
Desmonde of IBL. "We have always
received a fabulous service from Linde; the
trucks are reliable, efficient and ultimately
get the job done." More articles from Linde Material Handling (UK) Ltd: |
