Bringing control back on track January 1st 2011 Over 200 fork trucks and other
materials handling equipment at
Jaguar Land Rover's Halewood site in
Liverpool are now being managed by
Traka electronic access management
systems.
The company had a number of
issues to address including driver
accountability, damage control, cost
savings plus health and safety
compliance.
Traka uses intelligent iFobs, each
containing an electronic data chip,
and this 'electronic key' replaces the
conventional truck key. The iFobs are
locked within a Traka key cabinet
and will only be released if the
operator, via a company ID card, has
permission to access the cabinet.
iFobs will only give access to
authorised trucks.With no single
key, trucks can still be used even if
an iFob is taken home.
Traka32 software stores user and
iFob details on a central database,
giving information on who has driven
a particular truck at any time. Daily
incident reports are downloaded
from Traka, and driver accountability
is now a reality: typically, more than
27 incidents had been recorded each
week but the number has now been
reduced to just one. More articles from Traka Plc: |
