More productivity & less manual handling August 1st 2009 The Reel & Shaft Handling
Company (RaSHCo) has
designed a highly effective
stacker truck cradle for
offloading finished reels from
both shafts of slitter
rewinders at the same time.
The new system is easy to
install and operate and is
said to be safer and faster
than traditional methods.
Manually offloading reels
from both shafts and then
palletising them is both time
consuming and potentially
hazardous. Offloading one
shaft at a time with a stacker
truck is slow, while expensive
fully automatic systems can
be unsuitable.
RaSHCo has designed the
stacker truck cradle to slide
easily into place under the
finished product reels, then
gently pull them from the
shafts as the operator
reverses the truck. The
hydraulically powered cradle
then rotates the reels to
vertical so they are ready for
loading on to a pallet.
A separate Vertical Reel
Lifter mounted on a
customised air hoist, hanging
from a swing-jib crane,
allows the operators to offload
the reels of up to 95kg,
quickly and with little effort.
RaSHCo MD, Stephen
Weston says: "Our solutions
to everyday problems are
simple, robust and costeffective.
They allow
manufacturers to speed up
the efficiency of their
production lines and protect
their operators from possible
health issues." More articles from The Reel & Shaft Handling Company Ltd: |
