STILL says modularity means customers can design high lift pallet trucks to suit their application with its next generation EXV units

The EXV is designed around a modular platform which allows customers to choose from a wide range of options, creating a truck specifically tailored to the individual application profile. The EXV 12, for example, has an optional triplex mast.

Sturdily built, STILL says the 1.2t pedestrian stacker offers high flex resistance thanks to the modified mast geometry, strengthened forks and a stiffer chassis. This is an important safety characteristic when transporting heavy pallets and ensures the EXV is free from twisting and flexing over uneven floors.

According to the firm, a maintenance and wear-free 1.2 kW three-phase (AC) drive motor means reliable, high turnover performance with low running and maintenance costs. The modern AC drive unit provides high traction on the move and when braking, and the drive characteristics are programmable to the customer's individual requirements.

As with all tiller trucks from STILL, the EXV features an intelligent speed control system which dynamically changes the travel speed according to the angle of the tiller arm. In practice, when the tiller is nearly upright the maximum speed is greatly reduced in order to minimise the risk of an accident. Only when the tiller is more horizontal – and therefore the operator is at a safer distance from the truck – does the controller allow the truck to accelerate to its maximum speed of 6 kph. This important safety feature is complemented by an anatomically shaped safety switch pad in the tiller head. When pressed, the safety switch executes a short reversing movement to move the truck away from the operator, thus preventing him or her from getting trapped.

Improvements to the high performance hydraulic pump give increased lifting and lowering speeds compared to the previous generation model – with or without a load.

While capable of faster operation, the new hydraulic system is quieter in use and allows precisely controlled movements. This sensitivity can be adapted to suit individual operations via a three-position switch.

The oversize buttons have been specifically designed for easy use when the operator is wearing a pair of gloves, and STILL's tiller head design ensures comfortable operation of all functions – regardless of whether the operator is right or left handed.
