Customised six-axis robot cell packages
April 1st 2006

Aimed at providing automated solutions to more complex demoulding and handling tasks, Barr & Paatz has developed a complete robot cell package from as little as £35K. The package includes one of the latest purpose designed six-axis articulated arm robots from Staubli or Mitsubishi, interface packages for coordinating with moulding machines, customised gripper assembly, protective guard system and specific application programming.

Using its Cosimir 3D robot simulation and programming software, Barr & Paatz will also verify that the robot cell actually works in a 'dry-run' representation. The company will then install and commission the system and provide technical aftercare.

Six-axis robots provide a large work envelope in a small footprint and do not require large amounts of headroom. They can also be floor, wall or shelf-mounted to suit different space constraints and, thanks to their compact nature and light weight, readily repositioned in another workcell should the need arise.

The cells available from Barr & Paatz provide the opportunity to break away from 'hard automation', where equipment is bought solely for a specific task, and offer a major advantage in a market where products and processes change rapidly.
