AGV upgrade enhances productivity February 1st 2004 An Indumat driverless transportation system based on six AGVs, originally installed in 1995 for round-the-clock movement of gearbox and converter housings in a factory in Stuttgart, has been upgraded. More modern AGVs of a higher specification have been installed and the guide route has been extended by 2km, adding more production lines and transfer points.
Rather than the inductive guidance and data system used previously, the application now has more flexible laser navigation and radio communication between the central control system and the AGVs. Operational advantages include higher productivity thanks to a 50% increase in drive speed.
Indumat successfully phased in the new equipment without production having to be stopped. More articles from E & K Automation Indumat Systems Ltd: |
