Custom built electric road train June 1st 2004 Specialist industrial vehicle manufacturer, Bradshaw Electric Vehicles, has designed and built an electric road train for GSL, the infrastructure support services provider for the GCHQ site at Cheltenham.
Based on the Bradshaw T20 tow tractor, the road train is the sole link between GSLs logistics centre and the operational building, and is used for the delivery and collection of all items, large or small, for the sites 4000+ employees.
The AC tractor unit has a towing capacity of 20t and seats four passengers in comfort. The suspension of the tractor unit and trailers is more compliant than standard industrial equivalents, to allow the carriage of electronic equipment.
The trailers have fully enclosed GRP bodies with a payload of 5000kg each. Each tow unit is capable of towing three carriages, giving a combined length of 23m. More articles from Bradshaw Electric Vehicles: |
