Fork positions on small trucks boost efficiency
June 1st 2005

B&B Attachments boss, Mike Barton, says that while most forklift manufacturers offer hydraulically operated fork positioners as standard on trucks over 5 tonne capacity, smaller trucks can gain significant benefits too.

“Operators are convinced that forklift sideshift allow for faster operation, reduced energy and tyre consumption and less damage to the load carriers,” he says. “Regardless of the loads, forklift positioners are an effective way of turning a forklift truck into a multi-talented materials handling system.” B&B says its four models of Kaup fork positioners address all potential needs: Carriagebased have a sideshifting variant that positions within the frame width. It provides synchronic fork movement and can be used with original forklift truck forks.

Valveblock sideshift fork positioners have high visibility and position the forks within the frame width.

Other versions feature independent sideshift and position forks within the frame. With no clamping capacity, they are usually available as a hook ons.

Clamp body designed forklift positioners can exceed clamp body width.

They are designed to carry loads on the forks rather than to clamp – meaning lower clamping capacity between forks but faster adjusting speed compared to a clamp.
