Overhead cranes for Airbus fuselage
October 1st 2004 Lifting equipment systems designed and manufactured by Demag Cranes and Components are being used in the manufacture of fuselage sections for the new Airbus A380 at the Airbus Deutschland manufacturing facility in Nordenham, Germany.
Demag and Airbus engineers worked closely to develop a solution that comprises three overhead double girder cranes with spans of 32, 37 and 39m. Two of the cranes transport sections of fuselage skin to workstations for assembly to the fuselage section and a subsequent rivetting process.
