LGVs are full of beans in Canada February 1st 2009 Last autumn Elettric 80
installed five Laser Guided
Vehicles (LGVs) at HJ Heinz
Company of Canada's
facility in Leamington,
Ontario.
The manufacturing site in
Leamington is the most skuintensive
Heinz factory
globally. Elettric 80's LGV
solution integrates with the
existing end-of-line
technology within the
plant. A key objective was
to lower handling costs
without compromising
flexibility of operations.
The LGVs each have a two
pallet capacity, and
transport finished goods
from various conveyors to
four staging areas and
handle pallets of two
different sizes.
"We required a reliable
end-of-line partner whose
technology had to be
proven and flexible," says
Adam Schiefer, Heinz
product manager.
