Wind farm hoists order
September 1st 2011 Demag Cranes & Components has
won an order from Granada Material
Handling to supply 164 electric wire
rope hoists for a renewable energy
project. The order comes in the wake
of a contract, awarded to Granada by
RWE npower renewables, to design,
supply, third party certify, deliver, test
and commission crane systems for the
Gwynt y Môr offshore wind farm.
Granada has incorporated the
Demag hoist within its specially
designed 'Python' Crane system,
which will be mounted on the
foundation platform of wind
turbines and each of two substations
in the offshore wind farm.
The 1.3t SWL Demag FDR PRO 5
electric wire rope hoists have been
designed to meet the requirements of
the offshore application and
incorporate a range of features. Hoist
stability, slow lifting speeds for
precision handling, fast lifting speeds
for load take off and a 24m height of
lift ensure precise hook positioning
for simple and safe unloading of
