Less time wasted taking waste June 1st 2008 Bradshaw Electric Vehicles
has helped the site services
team improve waste and
recycling at the University of
Hertfordshire. It supplied an
FB3 AC electric vehicle that is
used seven hours a day, five
days a week to transport
waste and recycling to a
central point where it can be
collected. Previously it had to
be collected from numerous
campus points.
"We had the truck
custom-built as it has to fit in
some very narrow spaces
and Bradshaw came on to
the campus and measured
these to make sure the
vehicle would fit. They spent
time getting it right,"
explains Suzanne Couch,
university site services
manager. Bradshaw also
trained the two main users
and an additional person to
use the vehicle correctly and
has provided support and
service since the sale. "The
University has an active
environmental programme
and this is one successful
example. We were ranked
third in the country in the
league table of green
universities in 2007," finishes
Couch.
The FB3 can tow 1100 litre
wheelie bins, carry out
kerbside recycling collections
or just move bagged rubbish.
Its powerful electric motor
allows it to tow up to 4t and
carry 2.5t. Fume-free
operation makes it suitable
for enclosed areas. Safety
features and variable speed
controls ensure smooth
acceleration and control in
confined areas. The FB3 can
be customised to meet
specific requirements. More articles from Bradshaw Electric Vehicles: |
