Robur reels in printing giant August 1st 2010 When printing giant St Ives Roche
had concerns recently about aspects
of its paper handling operations,
handling equipment supplier Briggs
Equipment turned to Stanley
Handling for a specialist solution.
St Ives felt there was an issue with
employees moving heavy paper reels
by hand pallet truck. The1270mm
diameter reels weighed in at a
substantial 2000kg and the company
wanted to implement changes that
would prevent the possibility of back
strain or even injury.
Working closely with Briggs,
Stanley supplied a paper reel handler
based on the ROBUR K9/ SBM22
powered pallet truck. Fitted with
special reel handling forks, the
truck's specification includes
electromagnetic braking, electronic
speed control, a digital weighing
system, automatic parking brake, an
operator safety button, hour meter
and a battery discharge indicator.
Ergonomic controls, power steering
and a stand-on platform further
enhance ease of operation.
The introduction of the reel
handler has alleviated concerns over
health and safety and is reported
have been warmly welcomed by
personnel, as has the accompanying
increase in productivity. More articles from Stanley Handling Limited: |
