Long loads handled safely inside and out
February 1st 2004 A highly manoeuvrable multi-direction sideloader from Sidetracker Engineering is being used by Newburgh Engineering to handle 18m aluminium extrusions inside and outside its Derbyshire factory.
The battery operated unit takes packs of extrusions weighing 2.5t from the delivery lorry to an external bulk storage area and then delivers them up an 8% gradient to the production area. Handling such long components inside the factory with a conventional forklift would have caused problems, but the twin-axle steering on the Sidetracker enables it to rotate on its own axis and manoeuvre safely through the works.
