Tug units to transport trolleys
April 1st 2007

B W Industries has recently taken delivery of two Nu- Star Power Pushers at its main manufacturing facility in Carnaby, East Yorkshire.

The Power Pushers are used to manoeuvre a range of rolled steel sections from point of production to despatch.

Established in 1974, B W Industries specialises in the manufacture of steel components for the construction and engineering industries.

Its product range includes press formed and rolled steel sections, fabrications and welding, laser cutting and turret punching, amongst others.

After seeing several of the Nu-Star pushers in use at one of its own customer sites, B W Industries Production Director, Trevor Brough, initiated interest into using the equipment at the Carnaby plant in order to remove the manual handling element.

The various trolleys on site are used to transport weights between 1000kg and 6500kg, previously moving them by hand was both labour intensive and time consuming.

B W Industries Managing Director Mike Pugh says: "It immediately struck me as an ideal solution to transport steel sections around our works without the investment and ongoing costs of fork lifts, or using cranes with limited movement, indeed, the tug units are invaluable."
