Lightweight portable gantry

When British Waterways decided to review its lifting equipment for maintenance applications, it turned to lightweight lifting equipment specialist, Reid Lifting.

Previously the organisation had used heavy steel gantries, which had raised health and safety issues. Now a Porta-Gantry from Reid is used.

‘The Porta-Gantry has proved to be a good lightweight system that provides a modern solution to manual handling problems associated with the steel gantries we were using,’ said John Williamson of British Waterways.

The Porta-Gantry is made from alloys that are 70% lighter and have 20% greater tensile strength than mild steel. It can be flat-packed for ease of transport.
