Lifting & tipping operation improved
June 1st 2009 When a major food
manufacturer wanted to
improve the bin lifting
and tipping operation in
its tea production facility,
it invited a number of
companies to put forward
possible solutions. Several
units were offered which
achieved the task safely, but
unfortunately their use
would also slow up
production.
Although safety was the
customer's prime
consideration, if it was
possible to find a piece of
equipment that would
deliver safety and speed of
operation, then that would
be the preferred option.
Following one visit to
ascertain exactly what was
required, STS produced a set
of 3D Solid Model CAD
drawings of the concept unit
along with a detailed
quotation.
The customer was
impressed with the design
and 4 weeks later the first
prototype was delivered for
on-site trials. Following a
few minor design changes,
eight bin lifting and tipping
units have now been
delivered and commissioned
