Insurance premiums reducedOctober 1st 2005
For damage free product delivery, boiler manufacturer Caradon Ideal used polystyrene preforms. However fire risk insurance premiums and disposal were increasingly of issue. To achieve a more environmentally friendly solution DS Smith Rawcliffe was consulted.
Key to the success of the solution was the ‘crumple zone’ fitting. It is a single blank ‘B’ flute corrugated ‘Z’ fitting that folds over and around on itself, and locks to form the cushioned base.
Subject to extensive external testing, this shock absorbent fitting proved capable of withstanding a drop test of 30 inches, without incurring any product damage and can be made up in just three seconds.
