All-wheel drive cuts the spin
February 1st 2006

Many loading bay operations involve forklifts moving between open yards and covered premises. During inclement weather, the risks associated with the loading area become even more acute. Wet and muddy conditions outside can lead to slippery floor conditions inside, increasing the risk of forklift wheel spin.

According to Translift Bendi's chairman, Freddy Brown, the risks from wheel spin can be mitigated by the choice of wheel drive. By placing and keeping the centre of gravity towards the rear of its articulated Bendi forklifts, Translift has found that its patented rear-wheel drive ensures a better grip than front-wheel, even when loads are on the forks.

If all-weather work is not required, Translift offers a cheaper front-wheel drive alternative. However, the best and safest grip comes from the company's all-wheel drive trucks.
