Automation completed October 1st 2005 When WM Morrison Produce decided to automate one of its distribution units, the company selected Welconstruct Customer Solutions as its conveyor supplier.
Welconstruct has just completed automation of the fruit and vegetable distribution centre in Thrapston. This facility now allows packers to pick and pack the items at a rate of 4000 per hour.
Project manager, Tony Jauncey, explains: "Due to expansion, Morrison's needed a facility which was capable of generating a larger quantity of produce and therefore we were asked to put forward a complete package, which included helping with the design and specification. This resulted in a bespoke conveyor application which was installed and running within just six weeks of the initial order date." More articles from Welco: |
