Last 50 yards covered October 1st 2005 ASDA has found a solution to the problem of logistics over the ‘last 50 yards’, transport of products from goods-in to sales shelf, with a merchandise trolley from Wanzl. The solution will bring efficiency and health and safety benefits as well as improving in-store appeal.
Several Wanzl KT3 trolleys per site will be used to load products that arrive at the retail store. These are then wheeled out to the sales area by staff replenishing shelving throughout the day.
The KT3 are order picking trolleys designed for many logistics operations. The variant chosen by ASDA, which is part of world retail number one Wal-Mart, is equipped with a unique central 5th wheel, which makes the KT3 picking trolley easy to move and steer, even when fully loaded.
