The door to energy savings February 1st 2006 To show the kind of savings possible when an energy efficient door is installed, Ro-dor cites the case of a customer with a 5m by 5m door that remains open for eight hours a day.
The inside temperature is 18°C, while in colder months the outside the average temperature is reckoned to be 8°C, with average windspeeds of 11km/hr. The customer needs heating for 120 days per year.
Installing a dynaco door with an opening time of 20 seconds per cycle, operating 200 times per day, would save £32,000 per year based on a heating cost of 0.4p per kWh. Ro-dor calculates that with an average cost of £8000 for a 5m by 5m door, return on investment would be three months.
