Davis Derby - TruckLOG case studies
September 18th 2009

The client

iForce is a specialist provider of e-fulfilment, reverse logistics and direct marketing services. Its clients include John Lewis, Boots, Sainsbury’s, Screwfix, Tesco and many other household names.

The business operates a mixed fleet of leased Toyota counter balanced and reach trucks at its Redditch site.

The objective

iForce required a card-based vehicle access control system in order to identify operators responsible for damage to trucks, racking and other warehouse infrastructure. Management of health and safety issues at the site was also a key consideration.

The solution

Working closely with the supplying OEM, Davis Derby provided a comprehensive system to reduce damage and improve driver accountability. Every vehicle in the fleet is equipped with the TruckLOG Fleet Management Information System (FMIS) complete with the Shock sensor and Shock lockout modules. Driver access is controlled via Smart cards.

The results

iForce reports that, thanks to the TruckLOG FMIS and associated modules, they are now able to identify, report and follow up any actions against poor driving. Driver access is restricted to trained and authorised operatives and works well along-side the in-house driver training programme. Managers also print the damage reports and display them on the company notice board to keep all staff informed of the progress being made on damage reduction.

What the client said

“The FMIS, shock modules and Smart card system work extremely well together. As an integrated system designed around our needs, TruckLOG has, via the management reporting and information, together with ongoing driver assessments helped to manage our problems in terms of driver access control and vehicle and racking damage-related costs.” Paul Davies, Facilities Manager, iForce Ltd.
