£42m saving to be made February 1st 2010 English Farming and Food Partnerships’ and partners Openfield, DHL Supply Chain and Rank Hovis say measures could deliver a potential annual saving of £42 million in reduced haulage charges to the grain supply chain.
The insight has emerged from the industry-wide study Increasing efficiency through collaborative approaches in the cereals supply chain.
The project outlines this level of saving and upstream customer benefits would not require significant capital investment but could be achieved by establishing more efficient on-farm loading, improved communication and coordination between farmers and hauliers combined with shorter onsite waiting times at delivery destinations.
