BITO hopeful despite 20% decline in orders
December 2nd 2009

Storage and order picking specialist BITO has reported orders 20% down this year compared to 2008, a rate the firm considers to be moderate compared with competitors. The firm puts its resilience down to a broad product range and customer base. Managing director, Detlef Ganz said: "This drop is due to the low number of large projects currently on offer in the market.

"We still receive enough orders to achieve a satisfactorily high capacity utilisation ratio for our plants in Meisenheim and in Lauterecken. We do not have reason to be pessimistic. We know from talks with our customers that most investments have only been postponed and we assume that many of these projects will be realised in 2010."

Last year, BITO turned over 150 million euros, an increase of 20% compared to 2007. The firm also celebrated its 50th anniversary recently in Germany (see full story on page 8).
