Fair fuel delegation will lobby Parliament February 3rd 2011 Quentin Willson is taking the fight for a fairer deal on fuel back to the heart of Government.
On Tuesday 8th Feb 2011 at 11.00am Willson will lead a delegation from the FairFuelUK campaign to lobby the Treasury with a 20ft long banner and hand in a letter for the Chancellor of the Exchequer.
The banner will show a picture of a fuel tanker set out as a graphic which shows the enormous proportion of fuel cost accounted for by fuel duty.
The letter will urge the Chancellor to abandon the massive hike in Fuel Duty planned for April and to announce measures to bring down and stabilise the cost of fuel – the two main aims of the FairFuelUK campaign.
Willson said: “This has become a major national issue. Oil has passed $100 a barrel and pump prices are surging - we have thousands of new people signing up support every day.
"The increasing cost of fuel is strangling the economy, stoking up inflation and really hurting businesses and the public. The Government need to act boldly and rule out that April increase immediately to give people and businesses confidence.”
The FairFuelUK campaign is backed by the Road Haulage Association (RHA), the Freight Transport Association (FTA), The Fuel Card Company and the RAC together with a host of other businesses, trade bodies and tens of thousands of the motoring public.
Peter Carroll, organiser of the campaign, said: “The Government appear to be listening but it is absolutely vital that everyone who supports a fairer deal on fuel prices helps us to keep the pressure on by signing up on www.fairfueluk.com – we will only win if we can show the Government the strength and depth of feeling on this subject.” More articles from Handling & Storage Solutions: |
