US utility looks to warehouse power
March 1st 2010 Utility Southern California Edison is leasing space on the roofs of about 50 warehouses in Los Angeles to generate 250 megawatts of electricity from solar power.
The utility will provide solar technology for generating up to 80 per cent of the power capacity needed for the utility’s large solar photovoltaic installation program.
Many of the warehouses are large freight distribution centres and are situated in areas where land can be costly and are near to areas of high energy demand. More articles from Handling & Storage Solutions: |
