W’house blaze man caught December 2nd 2009 A man who owned a wine storage business in California pleaded guilty this month to burning down the warehouse he rented, destryoing fine wines worth up to $400m.
The blaze in 2005 destroyed 6 million bottles of wine stored by wineries and collectors.
Mark Anderson admitted to starting the fire to destroy evidence of tax evasion and in retaliation for being evicted from the warehouse.
He could receive a sentence of up to 100 years and be ordered to pay up to $200m in compensation. Investigators found a petrol soaked rag and a propane torch where the fire originated, in Anderson’s bay. More articles from Handling & Storage Solutions: |
