Hyster rolls out Fortens range August 24th 2005 Hyster says its new Fortens IC counterbalance family is the culmination of five years hard work, 32,000 testing hours and $140m spent on product development. Launching 2.5 to 3.5 tonne capacity units this summer, the company aims to add 1.5 to 2.5 tonne models by the year end.
According to Lee Tracey, NACCO Materials Handling Group strategic product director, it is the biggest project he has ever worked on. All parties, from customers to assembly workers to dealers, have been involved from the outset, he says, resulting a truck range that is truly optimised rather than simply an updated legacy offering.
Three main packages are available: Fortens; Fortens Advance and Fortens Advance +. Each package comprises a choice of engines, transmissions, hydraulics and cooling systems to enable customisation. All core elements, according to Tracey, have been re-engineered for maximum efficiency. Because of this, he claims "value flows all the way through the chain," with numerous configurations to suit any application and simplified maintenance.
