November 7th 2005 EPCglobal, the organisation driving standardisation in the supply chain auto-ID market, has released a guide explaining the EPCglobal Network – and how to become part of it.
A group of 600 major retailers, manufacturers and solutions providers, the EPCglobal community seeks to identify business needs that can be met using automatic identification technology, then works towards a global standard for that need. Combining existing identification technologies, plus RFID and the Electronic Product Code, implementing these standards is essential for an ‘open loop’ Auto ID global supply chain.
Although the guide is aimed at hardware and software developers, systems integrators and the like, The EPCglobal Architecture Framework is also relevant for companies developing (or planning to develop) business processes that rely on EPC technology. More articles from EPC Global: |
