Jungheinrich bolsters portfolio November 7th 2005 Jungheinrich launched a number of new products at CeMAT earlier this year including:
The ‘future truck’
Visitors to the Hannover Fair in 2000 may recall having seen Jungheinrich’s space-age ‘Future Truck’, a research project aimed at generating discussion over the future direction of lift truck design. This year the company unveiled the production version of that original concept: the EFG D30 with a 3000kg capacity and electric forklift with a rotating cab. Via its Multipilot control element, the cab can be rotated 30º and 180º to the left and right respectively. With the trend towards multiple pallet units as well as unloading HGVs from the side with a lifting device for up to four pallets, fork truck drivers are increasingly finding the view ahead obstructed. Reversing with the load has hitherto been unavoidable, with all the resultant stress on the spinal column, muscles and connective tissue. With the EFG D30, the cab can be rotated so that the load is behind the driver - a major ergonomic advance that will increase cycle times and reduce lost working hours through driver health problems.
More reach trucks
CeMAT also saw the launch of the company’s Series 1 reach trucks for lighter handling routines. With overall widths of only 1120 or 1270mm respectively, the ETV 110/112 and 114/116 make optimum use of available space, lifting a tonne to 7100 and 7700mm respectively on the two models. With full ac control of lift, drive and steer, the trucks also incorporate the company’s Curve Control as a standard feature.
New tow tractor
Another addition to the portfolio was the ECZ 230/250, a new generation of tow tractors with a tractive force of up to 5000kg. Manoeuvrable, easy-to-service and flexible in application, these units are ideal for supplying materials to production operations, in addition to their classic function of transporting raw materials and finished goods to the warehouse.
High performance pallet truck
High performance, low consumption and an ability to handle up 80 pallets per hour is the essence of the new ERE 120 powered pallet truck equipped with ac drive and a fold-down standing platform. This nippy handler keeps up with the bigger series over short and medium distances and is ideal for moving up and down ramps for vehicle loading.
Swipe card instead of keys
Another development from Jungheinrich does away with the need for a key to start a truck. Drivers can now start their vehicle with a swipe card in EC format. Easily held in a wallet, this card also presents all the data relevant to the operation of the truck - the driver and other productivity information.
