Proteus: 3PLs must add value through technology

Outsourcing to 3PLs should not be viewed as a way of offloading peripheral activity, more as a means of adding value – and technology is often the most effective way to add it, according to Proteus Software.

Proteus’ WMS optimises the running of the warehouse, providing the management team with a complete overview of all activities within the warehouse environment – and this is furthered by the addition of Smart Manager to the WMS package. Smart Manager essentially provides management with ‘need-to-know’ information, i.e. when a potential problem arises, the manager receives and SMS or email. “We’re making our WMS much more proactive,” says Proteus MD, Howard Turvey. “Because what people want to know is not the 95% that is OK, but the 5% that isn’t.”
