Temporary structure provides storage solution
August 22nd 2006

Leading supplier of multi-purpose temporary buildings, Aganto, recently supplied a structure to national waste disposal firm, Waste Reduction & Recycling Ltd. Specialising in all aspects of waste disposal and recycling nationwide, Waste Reduction & Recycling contacted Aganto to help solve a storage problem caused by the handling of sensitive materials whilst undertaking site clearance at a client's premises.

The client had called in Waste Reduction & Recycling to oversee the disposal of materials prior to moving premises. This involved everything, from hiring in skips for the general non recyclable waste, to the organisation of cranes and heavy lifting equipment to remove machinery from buildings. The stumbling block was that the site was in a notorious area. Materials such as general waste, sensitive papers for shredding/recycling and cardboard for baling could not be left in a vulnerable location. In addition, Waste Reduction & Recycling was also arranging all the client's metal recycling needs, from old light iron filing cabinets to non-ferrous items such as brass fittings and copper piping. A site visit prior to the project made it clear that machinery would also have to be moved and stored for several months before transportation to new premises.

Waste Reduction & Recycling contacted Aganto to seek a solution, which came in the form of a temporary structure provided at short notice. Aganto provided a 10m x 40m x 4.2m structure from order to erection and handover, completely in keeping with Waste Reduction & Recycling's required time-frame. The building was supplied with a steel roller shutter door 4.8m wide by 4m high, security steel clad side walls, tensioned PVC roof system, lighting, cabling and distribution.

In addition, Aganto also supplied a racking/shelving system and a complete flooring system comprising of co-polymer polypropylene, which is capable of supporting 3.5t of axle weight or 100t/m2 loadings to cope with forklift movements combined with heavy machinery.

Chris James, managing director of Waste Reduction and Recycling comments: "Aganto were responsive, client focussed and delivered. From my initial enquiry, Andy Butters Aganto’s commercial director listened to our problem and provided the perfect solution even handling our shelving and electrical requirements. The response was immediate and we progressed from that first call to a complete usable building in what seemed like no time at all.

"Moving into an unfamiliar sector can be problematic but Aganto’s emphasis on service and attention to detail gave us complete confidence. Importantly to a company like ours so involved with environmental issues, we were incredibly encouraged to learn that Aganto’s structures are also completely recyclable and that Aganto incorporates this fact into its own environmental policy, something that we payed particular attention too."
