Fleet leasers save with truck log system January 19th 2006 Davis Derby’s Remote Hour Meter – a monitoring system that enables more accurate maintenance and billing – is now in use at three UK sites since being launched at CeMAT last year.
Replacing calendar-based service scheduling with actual hour-based servicing scheduling, the module is embedded in the vehicle and automatically transfers the incremented hour reading directly to any FTP server on the internet and/or mobile by SMS on a scheduled basis – e.g. daily, weekly or monthly – or alternatively upon demand.
“We are providing acccurate remote readings that enable our customers to save money on over and under servicing by giving them accurate information to enable them to manage their resource,” says Ian Roberts, director of TruckLOG Operations. “Service providers can now increase reliability and extend vehicle life because no manual readings need to be taken from the vehicle itself and they need no longer estimate service visit dates.”
TruckLOG Remote Hour Meter also identifies low and high periods of activity, enabling service engineers to be deployed during the low periods to prevent unneccessary downtime during customer’s busier periods. The flexibility to monitor trends, rotate fleets and review lease agreements means users can reduce contract terms where hours are unused, or increase contractual hours to prevent customers paying penalties, adding value to – and improving – service packages.
