Mobile solution July 12th 2006 Leading ambient grocery distribution and storage operation, Boughey Distribution has placed an order worth £2.3 million with Link 51 for a combination of mobile and static pallet racking as part of major expansion at its facility in Wardle, near Nantwich.
Initially Boughey had based the layout of the new warehouse around wide aisle static racking. However, once the space-saving efficiencies offered by Link 51’s mobile system had been demonstrated, the company was convinced that incorporating mobile racking represented the most cost effective way forward.
Essentially, with mobile racking the storage cube travels on tracks set into the warehouse floor. Where aisle space is at premium and, perhaps, at sites where the goods being stored are not fast moving items, mobile racking is extremely cost-effective.
“In today’s ultra-competitive market, one of the big business drivers for us is the need to offer the most cost-effective pallet storage rates,” commented Boughey Distribution’s managing director Keith Forster. “The Link 51 team worked closely with us to design a storage scheme that will bring significant cost benefits to our operation – and that’s good news for us and Boughey’s customers.”
