Excellence in logistics May 18th 2006 Northampton College has been awarded by the Learning Skills Council, a new status as a Centre of Vocational Excellence in Logistics. (CoVE)
CoVEs are awarded to training providers who are delivering a proven track records of training in a subject area, and who demonstrate that they have plans to develop their provision against targets, and demonstrate that they are able to develop an excellence in the subject area.
The CoVE has attached to it a Capital Grant to develop facilities for Logistics, and the College is investing in a State of the Art Conference and Training Centre in support of Logistics. This will include an IT suite and dedicated refreshment facilities. There is also a revenue grant to support the provision of Logistics training and the development of new courses, headed up by Peter Ellement, manager, logistics at the college (pictured).
The theme of the CoVE is to provide a Network of Excellence across Northamptonshire, working with other providers and encouraging other providers to deliver excellent Logistics training. The aim is to provide a centre which will become a ‘one stop shop’ for any training that is provided in Logistics in the region. You tell us what you need, and we will go away and find it for you.
This enhances a wider partnership that is being developed with Chesterfield College and partner providers in the north of the East Midlands. We shall be working with them, and the CoVE that has been in operation for a year or two now at North Warwickshire & Hinckley College based at Magna Park, to develop a wider net work of Excellence in Logistics training across the East Midlands region as a whole.
What will mean for you as a local employer in the industry?
It means a one stop shop to get excellent advice on training, and an excellent provider to deliver it for you. The best news is that this is subsidised by the Learning Skills Council. This ensures that you get the best value for money from your training budget, and you can be assured of top quality delivery. More articles from Northampton College: |
