Simple battery changeover increases uptime Toyota's latest order pickers October 12th 2006 Toyota Industrial Equipment has launched a new generation of low-level order pickers designed to ensure safer and more productive order picking. As order picking can be extremely labour and personnel intensive, productivity and safety are particularly important issues for workers in this environment. Comprising four models, the new 7LOP range features technologies which significantly improve productivity, safety and comfort.
Ergonomic features of the 7LOP range include optional sideways adjustable steering and a 130mm step-in height as well as improved steering achieved through an ergonomic tiller head and fly-by-wire steering, which enables drivers to manoeuvre safely and easily, ensuring downtime is kept to a minimum. Safety is also enhanced by automatic speed reduction when cornering. When making turns exceeding 25 degrees, the truck’s speed is automatically and proportionally decreased. The risk of accident when walking with the 7LOP is minimised by several safety features. If the operator steers the handle more than 20 degrees while in walking function, the truck locks, eliminating the risk of foot injuries.
The new 7LOP range also enhances productivity, thanks to powerful drive motors and CAN-BUS communication, which provides quicker and more reliable transmission of information with fewer components. For multi-shift operations, the 7LOP is also available with sideways battery exchange, which ensures quick, simple battery changeover, significantly increasing uptime.
