High density storage and retrieval for deep and narrow warehouse spaces

High density storage and retrieval for deep and narrow warehouse spaces

New Kardex Shuttle XPmultiple
September 20th 2006

Kardex has introduced the latest form of its high density vertical lift storage and retrieval system, the Shuttle XPmultiple. The system, designed to utilise awkward warehouse spaces, comprises of two high capacity storage bays arranged back to back. This configuration results in a double depth solution with twice the capacity of the Shuttle XP system and provides fast, safe and secure access to critical components.

A transfer unit operating at up to 0.62 m/sec connects the dual storage bays, and components are delivered to the operator through a single ergonomically designed opening. Each tray in the compact Shuttle XPmultiple is capable of holding up to 500kg and the complete system can store up to 120t of components.

“The Shuttle XPmultiple solution provides 400 percent faster part picking, increased access security and floor space savings of up to 80 percent when compared to traditional warehouse racking and shelving. Warehouses with irregular or deep and narrow spaces can now benefit from these features and harness previously overlooked space," explains Clive Williams, UK sales manager at Kardex.
