The Proteus software provides a platorm from which to grow Three new WMS wins for Proteus within one month August 17th 2006 Proteus Software has won three new business deals in the space of one month. Firstly, international freight forwarder, importer and exporter, Uniserve has decided on Proteus WMS to run its 6 warehouses in the UK.
Privately owned, Uniserve has gown dramatically over the last 20 years, turning over in excess of £100 million. The company is committed to client retention through service excellence and uses its multinational capabilities to provide import, export and distribution services throughout the world by air, sea and road. Winner of the accolade, ‘China Importer of the Year’ , the company serves all points throughout North America, Asia, Australasia and Europe, with have particularly strong connections in Ireland, Germany, Spain and Belgium.
As a part of its complete offering, Uniserve also offers Storage and Warehouse Management facility, not only at the main Tilbury location, but also at facilities in Glasgow, Manchester, Heathrow, Leeds and Dublin.
It is the current Warehouse Management facilities and their control that the company is intending to enhance still further with the implementation of PROTEUS RF Directed Warehouse Management. Proteus will be integrated with the OpenAccounts Financials and the MultiFreight Freight Management software, all of which are written in Progress.
Secondly, Jennings Foods Services, which specialises in the delivery of ancillary products such as paper plates, forks, serviettes and oils to fish and chip shops, has chosen the Proteus solution to control all its van sales. As the shops on route buy products off the van, all details of the sales are recorded via a PDA. On return to the offices the PDA is then linked to the main ERP system via a docking station, and the data from the van sales is downloaded. This action triggers an automatic update of the ordering, purchasing and invoicing processes, whilst updating stock levels. As a result stock replenishment is easier to control as the right levels of stock can be maintained due to the transparency gained by using the system.
Another benefit is repeat orders are easier to control, and the van can be stocked accordingly. As patterns of adhoc sales emerge, stock carried on the van can be adjusted to suit the needs of the individual delivery routes.
Thirdly, GWIBS 24/7 has chosen Proteus to run its warehouse operation in Nottingham. The company provides electrical and integrated IT services for major projects serving retail groups, banking and financial institutions, government, information technology groups and private hospital groups.
GWIBS 24-7 is well practiced at assembling project teams to meet the demands of individual projects, with an excellent track record of delivering complex multi-disciplinary projects in critical timescales. The company has successfully undertaken a number of major healthcare-related projects and is presently engaged on a number of contracts undertaking mechanical and electrical services installations. A number of current projects projects involve the integration of RF technology into retail network systems, accommodating the individual characteristics of each store.
Due to the diverse nature of the projects the company must stock a variety of equipment, for example, electrical components, network cables and wiring, radio frequency and communications equipment. The management team selected the Proteus Warehouse Management Solution due to the software’s ability to handle multiple levels of stock, its range of functionality and the proven track record of the software. They also view the Proteus software suite as giving them a platform from which they can grow.
Proteus MD Howard Turvey said, “These are very good new business wins for Proteus Software. Companies that are using the Proteus WMS solution are finding that there are many improvements to warehouse and van sales operations.
David Gray, Proteus Software’s chief executive added, “We are very pleased to have been chosen by all 3 companies and are looking forward to harmonious and productive partnerships for many years to come.”
