Witron builds second high bay warehouse for Nedis
August 28th 2007

Electronics and spare parts specialist Nedis has experienced growth in demand for its good by over 100% within the past four years.

To meet this demand, Nedis turned to system provider Witron, who is supplying a second pallet high bay warehouse which provides storage space for additional replenishment goods and offers the possiility of integrating further pallet pick locations for the handling of bulky articles. This means that Nedis can guarantee a 24-hour supply of goods to its some 50, 000 customers.

In combination with the already existing high bay silo, Nedis will be able to use approximately 28, 000 pallet locations starting in Fenruary 2008 - most of which will be double-deep locations. The automated picking system called DPS (Dynamic Picking System) that was also provided by Witron and started productive use in 1999, maintains a sufficient reserve capacity and will be connected to the new high bay warehouse only in terms of control and fuctionality.

Witron will integrate the new warehouse and the associated periphery into the existing material and information flow of the distribution center in without having to interrupt the running operation. The distribution of electronics to 80 countries will continue to run smoothly during the complete project realisation phase.

In addition to the software and system control technology, Witron – as general contractor – will again take responsibility for the delivery and installation of the steel construction of the high bay warehouse, five pallet stacker cranes with double-deep telescopic forks, the flow channels for the pallet picking process, all conveyor-based connections and modifications, and will take over the complete system ramp-up including training courses.
