Three in a row for Doosan February 15th 2007 After two successful years at the “Archies”, Doosan has made it three in a row by picking up the Fork Lift Truck Association Award for Safety Excellence, 2007.
Doosan’s safety nomination highlighted the Operator Sensing System – a simple detection system to prevent mis-operation. To prevent motion of the truck without an operator in the seated position, the OSS will place transmission in neutral within approximately three seconds of the operator leaving the seat.
Additionally, an alarm will sound if the operator does not apply the parking brake upon exiting the machine. When the operator returns to the seated position, the operator must first place the directional lever to the neutral position, and then select the desired direction. The double-acting parking lever gives added reassurance via a warning buzzer, if the operator leaves without engaging the brake. The Doosan Operator Sensing System (OSS) is standard on all the latest models.
Collecting the award was the new UK general manager, Tim Waples.
Tim said: “This is a fantastic achievement and a recognition of the hard work and effort that has gone into developing our latest model range. We are very proud of the way the products have been developed and received by our customers, over the past few years, helping us to achieve record sales in the UK. I’m delighted to collect this award on behalf of Doosan and it is especially fitting in the run up to the IMHX exhibition, and the launch of the Pro-5 Series.”
