Doosan and BA World Cargo break new ground January 19th 2007 Korean forklift manufacturer, Doosan, is celebrating the award of a new long-term contract to supply the prestigious BA World Cargo Centre at London Heathrow. The deal was won by Doosan’s national distributor, Rushlift.
The latest in high performance forklifts, a radical new battery system and a commitment to customer service have combined to produce a world first for the World’s leading cargo airline, with a host of specialist modifications on the range of 22 electric and one diesel powered machines.
The trucks are the latest Doosan-badged trucks to appear in the country and will carry an on-board system designed to monitor battery life and ensure peak performance.
Darren White, UK general sales manager at Doosan, congratulated the Rushlift team for their hard work over the past 12 months, which led to the award of the deal.
Said Darren: “We are naturally delighted to see our trucks being used in what is a high profile, cutting-edge application and credit must go to the Rushlift team for all their hard work. We’ve experienced record sales in the UK in 2006 and Rushlift are an integral part of that success. We could not think of a more fitting way to begin our new Doosan branded era.”
Rushlift’s regional sales director, Jason Reynolds, believes the Doosan range was ideal for the application as it provided the best levels of safety, performance and durability in a demanding application.
“The Doosan range proved a firm favourite in the trials, with operators and managers, and we’re extremely confident that the trucks will stand the test of time. We are of course delighted to be working with such a prestigious organisation and working together to develop a fleet and maintenance programme that is second to none. It really puts BA World Cargo ahead of the game.”
BA World Cargo’s Support & Equipment Business manager, Des Alderson comments: “Over the past ten years, we have invested £500m in developing BA World Cargo's infrastructure and it is vital that we have equipment that delivers on our business objectives. Following a supplier review it became apparent that together Rushlift and Doosan were best placed to assist us in achieving this and we are confident that this new equipment will make a valuable difference to our operations.”
Doosan models are available in the UK from 1.3 to 5.0 tonnes, electric three and four wheel models and from 1.5 to 16.0 tonnes for IC models.
