Providing a concrete solution
July 23rd 2007

Included in Hörmann's wide range of loading bay equipment is the Hörmann precast concrete dock and Insulated Shelter Wall System.

Often, companies have to source loading bay equipment and concrete docks from separate companies, but Hörmann supplies everything from one source, manufacturing all its own products.

Tom Langley, Hörmann UK’s projects manager, believes this will continue to appeal to clients. “The design and installation process becomes much easier when there is just one company involved on site.

“The fact that we take ownership of the job helps the natural progression of the installation making the process much quicker. It also means that we take full responsibility for the entire dock leveller area and this allows us to be confident in the quality of work of the entire area.“

The Hörmann Type C dock system is a high quality finished floor slab design between the dock levellers, the system comprises a front Tee piece (for vehicle tail lift access) and rear retaining wall, a finished top slab to form the dock leveller pit and end closing walls at each of the dock bays.

The finished floor slab provides numerous benefits, including cast in sockets for the structural steel door opening, door protection bollards, dock buffers, internal cable ducting for the dock levellers and threaded bars out of the rear retaining wall to connect to the internal floor system.

The system is suitable for the Hörmann suspended frame model dock leveller and this system allows easy installation and removal at a later date if required.

The system comes complete with retaining walls and ground beams as required along with front building wall for dock door and shelter installation. The Hörmann Shelter Wall is insulated and does not require the additional steel column between bays, therefore further reducing the building cost and time to construct.
