Aldi reduces fuel costs May 17th 2007 Aldi is installing the GSPK Dual Fuel System to its vehicles following a detailed trial which demonstrated a fuel cost saving of £300/month for every vehicle.
The trial compared three converted Scania P-series 380s with three identical vehicles over a three month period. The vehicles continued to cover normal routes with normal loads, and the average cost per mile was compared with the average from three identical unconverted vehicles.
Diesel Dynamics of Avonmouth installed the dual fuel systems and worked closely with Aldi on the design and execution of the trial. Following its success they have now received an order to fit the system to the next batch of vehicles. Diesel Dynamics selected the GSPK Dual Fuel System for Aldi because of its proven cost saving performance on real vehicles over the past three years.
“Our customers expect fantastic value,” says Alex Turner, Aldi Transport Manager, “and this helps us to deliver it.” Nick Ridley, Aldi Logistics Director, added: “The price of fuel is one of our most significant distribution costs, and a saving of £300/vehicle per month helps us to offer the best value in the marketplace.”
“Not only that, but the system has important environmental benefits, such as a reduction in carbon dioxide,” he adds. “We also only work with the most professional organisations, and the high quality of workmanship and support are amongst the reasons we have selected Diesel Dynamics.”
Diesel Dynamics’ managing director Miles Kirke noted: “It has been a real achievement for us to sign up a logistics professional like Aldi. Aldi's confidence in the system gives other customers the confidence to trial it, and once they have seen for themselves how much they can save they realise it really does make sound financial sense.”
David Abbott, managing director of GSPK Multifuel Technology, commented: “This is an important endorsement of our product. Aldi is a forward looking company who conducted a very thorough trial, and we are extremely pleased that they have decided to implement our dual fuel system.”
