Racking needn't be torture May 17th 2007 RackCare's racking safety management process has been fully upgraded to an online service providing an integrated racking management system.
Formalising and improving the users existing inspection regime, RackCare instantly collates data to provide detailed management control of both racking damage and unusable, unsafe locations.
As a result, RackCare not only improves racking safety, but improves business performance too.
HSE guidelines and the SEMA Code of Practice require racking users to have a process in place to routinely identify racking damage. They should then remove from service any locations made unsafe as a result, although they may not be damaged themselves. RackCare fully complies with all these requirements through a fully auditable process.
RackCare compliments any independent inspection regime that may already be in place.
“It’s a tremendously powerful tool that brings, to the user, a level of real-time information which has always been needed but never considered possible before.” comments Chris Cooper, RackCare’s Managing Director.
As standard RackCare provides:
• Inspection schedules - with those due and overdue highlighted
• Recording of inspection data – as required under the HSE/SEMA code
• Synchronisation of Warehouse Management Control of unusable locations.
• A “real-time” dashboard display of all racking and location status
• Historic analysis of damage by aisle or pallet position
• Standard and custom reports and charts
• Repair management and cost analysis
Following the successful introduction of the PC based version early last year, RackCare says users soon recognised the merits of the real time dashboard style of display.
By offering a web based service, all the detailed reporting systems can be accessed easily by authorised users. This enables Health and Safety/General Management to also view the individual site or Company wide performances
After operating under both the PC based and online systems, Kevin Martin, Health and Safety Manager for Norbert Dentressangle Logistics operating the IKEA Distribution Centre at Doncaster with over 100,000 pallet positions, says “ Our use of RackCare demonstrates our continued commitment to maintain the highest standards of safety to both our employees and our clients. I now have instant reports of any compliance failures, and it is now so easy to ensure that our racking is in a safe condition”
Mark Carter, Operations Manager for Re-Vision Logistics who operate the 628,000ft sq Nisa Todays National Distribution Centre for Bibby Distribution, admitted "we thought we were good at managing racking, but RackCare has helped us revise our approach to racking and now we are in total control. It allows us to accurately schedule repairs and as a result significantly improve levels of space availability. With 44,000 locations we can now identify damage hot spots that require further attention.”
RackCare will be making a number of presentations of the system over the next few months, but also offer for a limited period a free evaluation version for racking users.
